Early Career Network
Who are we?
We are the IAH’s Early Career Hydrogeologists’ Network of Aotearoa New Zealand (IAH ECHN NZ).
We were established in 2022 to represent students and recent graduates (~10 years post-study) with an interest in hydrogeology. As such, we represent the future of hydrogeology in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Our goals
Our primary goal is to assist early career hydrogeologists by increasing networking and career opportunities via organising events and information sharing.
We will organise social and professional science events, inviting scientists (including student scientists) working across industry, the public sector and academia to meet, talk about cool science and learn from each other.
We also aim to promote scientific outputs (e.g., research papers, reports, and other projects) from early career hydrogeologists, and provide an opportunity to give presentations (and receive positive constructive feedback) at our events, in an inclusive and friendly environment (with snacks).
We are also happy to share information, including relevant internship/job//volunteer/scholarship opportunities.
Events
Future events, social meetings and local lectures will be posted online and via our mailing list. Please keep an eye out for our latest activities. We aim to host events in each of our main centres.
Volunteer with us
As we are newly established, we are (and always will be) looking for volunteers! If you are passionate about hydrogeology, want to add to your CV, and meet fellow early career hydrogeologists, please get in touch!
Contribute
If you represent an organisation that would like to host (and provide snacks) for an in-person event, or provide a donation for an award (e.g., best thesis or best publication) please get in touch. Any assistance would be gratefully received.
